Silver jewellery should not be worn in pools to avoid its contact with Chlorine. It is advisable to use the articles and wash them daily to avoid their chances of developing any dull layer.
Cleaning the Tarnished Items:
The oldness of the tarnish, on the metal, decides the time and process of cleaning required for the Silver Pooja Items. The shade of the tarnish may me yellowy-gold or even black. When you find your articles in dull gold phase, they can be cleaned simply with a clean cloth wipe. In other advanced stages, a professional or homely polish may be needed.
The Home Remedies for Silver Polish:
1. Lemon juices can be used for small Silver articles of Puja. The simple way is to clean it with juice of lemon with a gentle rub and use of cotton buds for reaching complex fissures. Then they are to be wiped with a clean cloth. They should be kept in an air-restrictive space after the cleaning.
2. Another safe material for polishing silver is the toothpaste. Work the toothpaste into foam by coating it on the tarnished silver item and use a soft-bristled toothbrush to rub it clean with soft hands. After this use warm water to rinse it and dry it well using a soft cloth to wipe. Gel toothpaste should not be used however.
3. The paste of baking Soda and water can also be used for the purpose of polishing. Coat the items that need polish with the paste and rub it using a toothbrush, but don’t rub hard. Wash it with water and dry well for a shiny and beautiful surface.
4. There are some readymade polishes available in market, which can also be used for cleaning the items at home.
